Early this morning, maybe 5AM, I came upon a collection of memoirs. One of them, entitled Loose Girl, was written by Kerry Cohen on her battle with self-effacement through sex addiction and the desperation for male attention. I stayed up until this afternoon reading it.
The importance of this memoir isn't found in the gratuitous sex scenes or familiar teenage debauchery. Cohen, like so many woman engaging in casual sex, is labeled a slut by her peers, society, and self. She uses this book almost as an explanation for promiscuous girls, whose perspectives are often ignored. It's "the other side of the story" so to speak.
Cohen's moral transgression is as common as it is lurid. So whether you directly relate to her immensely personal and courageous telling is irrelevant; Loose Girl is a quick read that will enlighten and, in some cases, inspire.
