Bitter Remembrance

I logged onto style.com a few moments ago to catch up on Resort 2009 collections. Perhaps it's a childish inclination I had to view the Gucci slide show -- some lingering hope that maybe, just maybe Frida Gianni has woken up from the coma.



I'm not asking this woman to pick up where Tom Ford left off. I'm not even asking her to discontinue her inadvertent contribution to Forever 21 designs. But goddamn, Gianni, sell chic, sell sleek, SELL SEX. Yes, I am asking her to sell sex (begging, even). Because right now, I have trouble dechipering between Gucci and The Limited Too.

even today. Tom Ford's designs from nearly a decade ago are still more important than 98% of what you've sent down the runway, Frida.

Am I the only one enraged here? With each season, I think I'll get over Gucci being a "fallen house," but the condition worsens. Before I knew anything about fashion beyond The Big Six and Vogue, I equated Gucci with fashion.

The show has become an annual funeral/dedication to other labels.
