Nina Ricci ad campaign: F/W 0809

After committing to up-and-coming models for past campaigns, Olivier Theyskens has apparently moved on to the heavy-hitters. Mario Sorrenti shot Natasha Poly for this season’s ads, which maintain the edgy effect consistent with Theysken’s direction for the brand. This time, however, the overall aesthetic is simpler, more mature and less grungy than in the past. I like that.

Admittedly, Natasha is more or less a robot, virtually plucked from a model manufacturing plant. But I still love her; the girl is stunning and gets major nods for her seemingly effortless feline grace (not to mention stellar catwalk.)

Givenchy ad campaign: F/W 08

starring Lara Stone, Natasha Poly, Lakshmi Menon, Maria Carla Boscono and Kristin Owen (not pictured.) Shot by Inez and Vinoodh.

wait...Lakshmi? That's Indian!

Indeed, this beauty hails from Bangalore, India, and comes with fierceness à la Omahyra Mota (except less scary and manly.)
In reference to his lineup, Tisci says:
"I chose these five women that represent elegance, femininity and masculinity with character...it's a family portrait."
"The campaign is in black and white to represent Givenchy colors: no special effects, as it is about the personality of the girls. I wanted them to be natural, the way they would dress, do their hair and make up everyday," he says. "This best reflects their high sensuality, femininity and strong masculinity."
